Integrated Access WAN

National Pasta Concept Selects an IP Phone System, Restructures Local Telecom Services and Implements an Integrated Access WAN.

Customer Type: National Restaurant Chain
Overview: 170+ Locations, Corporate HQ

The Situation:

The client was struggling, and unhappy with the service and price performance of their CLEC provider of local voice services. The client was also interested in upgrading their WAN from their DSL based IP-VPN, and needed to replace its aging phone system. The challenge was to improve service quality for the client’s local telephone services, generate a phone system RFP and provide recommendations, and evaluate and recommend a replacement WAN solution.

OCx Solution:

OCx moved the customer away from their CLEC local services provider to a CLEC that provides better support and pricing. To achieve predictability of rates and charges, we negotiated flat rates for local services for all locations. OCx then evaluated IP based phone systems and helped select a vendor. The company selected was ShoreTel, a product that OCx was not currently representing. OCx also recommended an integrated access WAN solution provided by McLeodUSA.

OCx Results:

  • Improved customer satisfaction, service and support for local voice services, consolidated onto one carrier, and currently handle provisioning for all new store location buildouts.
  • Administered and recommended an IP-PBX solution.
  • Moved customer WAN from a DSL based network to an integrated access network. The solution was cost justified by moving most local lines to the T1 based connection. Circuit uptime increased and Security was also improved because data traffic travels over a private, MPLS backbone.

Soft Cost Savings. All of the services provided by OCx were/are free of charge to the client.

Client Testimonial:

“Dealing with telecom carriers is brain damage! I really don’t want to deal with telecom, especially when it comes to new store openings, something we’re doing a lot of. OCx handles all the details for us, getting us up and running on time. It’s been a godsend.” - CIO
